Impact situation in Ukraine on Registration:
Position of the LOC regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Date: 23 March 2022
The local organising committee of the International Congress of Toxicology (ICT2022) expresses its heartfelt solidarity with our colleagues and people of Ukraine, who are facing a humanitarian catastrophe following the unprovoked military offensive by Russia, aided by Belarus. At ICT2022 we unite toxicologists from around the world to join forces to create a safer world and promote a healthy living environment for all. The acts of war we are currently witnessing in Ukraine are clearly the opposite of what we wish to achieve. Therefore we adhere to the official position taken by the Dutch government stating that: “no further collective events (scholarly or otherwise) are to be held, with participants from Russian and Belarusian institutions being barred from participation” (Statement Dutch knowledge institutions). This implies that the attendance to the ICT2022 congress by delegates directly affiliated to any Russian or Belarus organization (university, institute or company) will not be possible. This position may be reconsidered in case the situation changes before start of the conference.
This position is in line with the statements related to the situation in Ukraine posted by EUROTOX and IUTOX.
